I think I am almost there. This pie crust felt the most like regular crust than I have ever made. It had the elasticity and consistency. It was really flaky (a bit too much perhaps) but it is gluten free and dairy free (not vegan). It was a delicious Apple Pie. Can't wait to try it again. Yumm!!!

So, God does have a sense of humor. Careful what you ask for. Since mid-October I have been struggling with a problem with my lower back. It has made it impossible for me to do a high level workout. I am learning how to be a bit more still and rest more. I also have been experiencing numbness in various places so my need to continue to sit still continues. I had my first MRI on January 1st (bringing the New Year in with style) and actually found the time to be fairly meditative. I was not able to do anything else other than lay still and wait. I found myself praying or having fleeting thoughts between the loud sounds of the machine. It was a great practice in sitting still and knowing God. I found great comfort that no matter what the MRI results were that I had what I needed. I am loved by an amazing God and trust that I and those I love will be taken care of. (Thankfully the MRI showed that all things were clear.) We'll see where this journey takes me as I learn how to sit still and know God.

I did it. I finished my first prayer shawl. Annika was the recipient of this great feat. It certainly isn't perfect - but it was knitted with plenty of prayer and I think is a great example of how God's love works. It doesn't require us to have it all together and or things to be perfect. It is about doing our part and seeing the miracle unfold. I just had to keep knitting and eventually a shawl was made. One that will bring comfort and warmth to Annika. I know my prayer shawl has been such a wonderful gift and a great comfort to me. It was a great way for me to sit still and tap into my creativity side.

There are very few things in life that make me slow down and stop. Massage is one of them. I find many health benefits and am able to relax and cease for a little while. I have decided to join Elements Therapeutic Massage near Greenlake. I have had a few different massage therapists and all have done a great job. I like the ability to make appointments online and the low level of commitment for the Massage Membership. It also is a great price for a 55 minute massage with frequent specials. I recommend trying them out if you are looking for a place to get a good massage. The other benefit is you can share your massages with family and they transfer from month to month.

I chose to participate in "Free Three" with Compassion International in October 2015. The hope was to help free three kids from poverty and to opportunity through a child sponsorship program. I was able to get one child sponsored - thanks Mom! This proved a little harder than I thought. We have sponsored kids through Compassion International and World Vision for 18 years. It has been a great program to be a part of. It has been fun to involve our kids and to learn more about families in other parts of the world. I think many of our friends are already sponsors - which is awesome. Compassion has released some great research results that show the benefit of child sponsorship programs to the communities they are serving.
